Return to castle wolfenstein mission
The SFX and enemy death/damage animations don't stand out either. There are some guns that just don't get any ammo or share ammo with other, flat out better weapons, so a chunk of the arsenal is basically there for show. You get some weapons that look like they'd be completely overpowered but then it turns out you have to spend like 8 seconds lighting a standard enemy up to see any result. While the gunplay isn't flat out bad, it could certainly be more satisfying. There's plenty of other bullcrap like this in the game. And of course they don't do the modern thing of using a somehow very visible laser that gives them away - they even get silencers so you can't tell what direction you're getting shot from. Thankfully they don't rush you down (which would make the game impossible), but the game makes up for that with bullshit placements.įor example, you have to be looking at the ladder to climb it, so naturally there is an enemy waiting on the top of it half the time, and as soon as you try to look at them you fall back down while also getting shot because obviously they reacted to seeing you in time to hit you.Īnother one, there are snipers that can kill you within around 2 seconds hidden in the leaves of trees that are covered by fog in the first place. Oh, and don't forget they don't get any aim punch, but your crosshair gets thrown in a washing machine when you get hit. Enemies are 100% accurate, 100% of the time, and react instantly a lot of the time. Turns out yeah, that's a problem, and even worse than I imagined. It's very well regarded by most people that mention it, but it never seemed that exciting to me - a retro shooter where the majority of enemies use hitscan weapons? Aren't those games all about avoid enemy fire with quick movement? I've been playing more retro shooters lately and inevitably ended up playing this game.
